True Blue Kids Camp

 
 

We are excited to offer our 2nd annual True Blue children’s camp for ages 6-12(grades 1st-6th as of fall ‘26). This camp is onsite at the Sou’wester and runs parallel to the main Indigofest Retreat. True Blue is rooted in nature-based learning and play featuring indigo(and other natural dye) processes with time for forest and beach adventures. Children’s camp runs adjacent to the main retreat schedule from 9am-4pm Tuesday-Thursday, August 4th-6th. We will have a family-friendly campus check-in on 4-6pm Monday the 3rd and checkout Friday the 7th by 11am for adults and their children along with a full-campus(True Blue + Indigofest) pizza and potluck Thursday evening.

Camp Details:

  • Our partner the Dylan Jude Harrell Community Center is a 5013C insured program offering camps/afterschool programs for the Long Beach community since ‘21

  • Instructors Ally Bruser(camp director), Tully Sullivan Daire, and Karina Andrews

  • Ages 6-12 with a maximum of 18 participants

  • Price $125 per child

  • Camp runs August 4th-6th Tues/Wed/Thurs onsite at the Sou’wester from 8:45am-4pm with daily beach walks, lunch break(spent with their respective adults), and hands-on guided learning in a small group with a different focus each day: Indigo Day(learn patterns in the indigo vat and play with fresh indigo methods), Mixed Media Day(collage, indigo painting on fiber/paper, and more), and Fiber Craft(backstrap weaving from ‘25 pictured).

  • Thurs night “Open Gallery” and bead exchange for both True Blue and Indigofest. Show&Tell with our favorite pieces and a bead swap before Thursday night’s pizza and potluck dinner.

Camp Director- Ally Bruser

Ally Bruser is an Arts Integration Specialist and certified teacher with over fifteen years of experience working with educational institutions and nonprofit agencies in both urban and rural settings.

Ally works to increase arts learning opportunities for youth in Clatsop county as an arts teacher for DJHCC and Sitka Center. When not teaching or playing with her 5-year old, Ally enjoys exploring and experimenting with local materials in her pottery.
